Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween everyone!  I am a pin up girl from the 50's!  It was so fun doing the victory rolls for my hair and I never wear red lipstick, so it was fun glamming it up for a night.  We are taking our son trick or treating for his second year.  Hopefully my husband will eat most of the candy!  LOL.

Hope you all have a great night and stay safe!  Don't forget to leave me links in the comments showing your costumes! :) And if you get a chance, vote for my costume on Chictopia! They are having a contest right now and I need help. Thanks! <3 class="separator" data-blogger-escaped-div="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Seeing Spots

It's so close to Halloween?  Can you feel the excitement in the air?  I love love love this holiday.  You will have to wait until tomorrow to see what I'm going to be for Halloween. :)

I went shopping with my mom yesterday.  We were on the hunt for some new ankle boots for me, but I couldn't find any.  They were either the wrong size, the heel wasn't high enough, or they were the wrong color.  I'm determined to find the perfect pair though!  If you have suggestions for some on the cheap, let me know.

I'm seriously loving this top.  It's so flowy and is actually a high-low top.  The front is pretty cropped, but you can't tell since my skirt is high waist.  And I love that it's more of a peachy leopard print.  Oh and I love all the stares I get when I wear these shoes.  They look at me like, "Patent leather loafers?  Is she crazy?"  But they're missing out.  They're comfy, cute, and go with everything. :)  Hope you all have a great Sunday and please leave a link in the comments so I can check out all your Halloween costumes on Monday!!

Strawberry Wine

I have found a great pair of skinny jeans!  These wine colored skinnies I found at the Salvation Army.  And on their 50% off clothing day.  So these awesome jeans only cost me $2!!  Such a hot color for fall and I feel so lucky they are in my size! :)

My mom is visiting this weekend so we're going to try to find some fun Halloween stuff to do for my son before Monday.  And since it's about a week and a half until my birthday, she's going to take me shopping!  Yay!  The best present a girl could ask for.  New clothes.

Hope you all have a great weekend and thank you for the wonderful comments!

Off to the Races

I had a fabulous day yesterday!  My husband's days off are Wednesdays and the weather was beautiful.  We decided to drive up north a bit to go to H&M since there's not one here where I live. :(  I have been eyeing their leather pants with the pocket zippers ever since they came out.  I was hoping and wishing that they wouldn't be all sold out when I got there.  And there they were.  Hanging on the rack in my size just waiting for me!!  I can't wait to show them all to you in a future post.

So when you think about what to wear the next day, do you lay awake the night before daydreaming about it?  No?  Just me?  LOL.  Maybe because I take time to put my son down to sleep, I have time to daydream about my outfits.  This outfit was one I had been wanting to wear for a while.  But I didn't think it would look that dressy until I put it on.  So the hat was last minute.  I think it really pulled the look together.  What do you all think?

I've also been starting to wear lipstick again.  I think I need to get some new shades as I looked at my tiny little collection and I own a lot of pink shades.  I'd really love a beautiful coral shade or maybe even a burgundy one like from the 90's.  Have a great Thursday!

BlueBell

This blouse has to be one of my favorite vintage finds in a long time.  It's actually a blouse, but the girls are still a little too busty post baby to fit correctly with the blouse closed.  So I wear it as a jacket instead!  I think it can look great either way!

These jeans are super comfy and have a lovely bell bottom shape.  I love dressing these jeans up and down because I can get completely different looks with them.  I've been eyeing a floppy hat at Forever 21 that I think would go perfect with these jeans....my birthday is coming up. :D

Can you believe I scored these shoes at $4??!  Forever 21 was having a crazy online sale after Labor Day and these platforms were an amazing $4.  I love the little bow detail and they are pretty comfortable for being almost 6 inch heels.  Hope you all have a beautiful Wednesday!  If you haven't checked out Chictopia and Lookbook yet, please follow and hype my look! <3

Cascading Ruffles

Well, this post almost didn't happen.  LOL.  My husband and I spent about half an hour looking for my camera because it wasn't where I left it the day before.  We checked couch cushions, kitchen drawers, and my son's toy box.  Want to know where it was found?  The kitchen trash.

Yes...eww.  We've been teaching our son to throw away his trash or empty containers when he's done with them.  I guess he thought since I was done with the camera, it needed to be thrown away!  I'm so glad my husband actually thought to check there as it could have been lost forever.  Luckily, the trash wasn't very full either!  It was an adventure. :)

Yesterday was pretty warm here (85 degrees), so I wore my silky, ruffly top with my grey trousers.  I just got these pants from Forever 21 and I am in love with them.  They are pretty light weight and go with so much.  I can't wait until the weather really cools down and I can pair them with chunky sweaters or button downs and cardigans.  So many options...

Like my hair?  I love the "braid headband" and it's very easy to do and can give your whole look a different vibe.  I also like my hair a little undone.  Not too stiff and structured.  That's probably why I don't own any hair spray. :)

My Beauty Routine Part 1

This is just a basic inkling of what I use as part of my beauty routine and I thought I'd share it with you.  I'm not really a product junkie, but I do love testing out products that don't break the bank.  Although for Christmas two years ago, my father in law got me gift cards to MAC and that was fun picking out some pretty eye shadows.  But we can talk about that later.  Let's get down to what I use on a daily basis:

1.  Pantene Split End Repair Creme: Being a hair stylist, I loveee trying out new products.  My hair used to be pretty thick and had been short for a long time.  When I got pregnant, my hair grew insanely quick and then all fell out post-partum. So my hair is much thinner.  It's also semi wavy so I try to use products that moisturize.  I recently saw this Pantene Split End Repair Creme in a magazine and for $4, I had to try it.  You can use it on damp or dry hair and it also acts as a heat protectant.  Over all, I'd say it's definitely worth the $4.  It does not leave the hair greasy or oily.  My hair felt soft and moisturized.  And I was surprised that the ends of my hair actually felt smooth!  Definite win for me.

2.  Up and Up Dual-Treatment Moisturizer: As a teen and going into my mid twenties, I had pretty oily skin.  You couldn't pay me to use a moisturizer because I was always under the impression that it would make my skin worse.  But as I've gotten older, my skin has gone a bit more combination: oily T-Zone and dryer cheeks.  I'm still a little apprehensive about moisturizers, but I love this one!  It takes care of any acne I have and the cream actually soaks into my skin instead of just sitting on it.  Which means my make up goes on smoothly.  And a steal at $3.  I would recommend this for all skin types and acne prone skin.

3.  Cover Girl Aqua Smoothers Foundation and Lash Blast Mascara: My sister has flawless skin (lucky duck) and can basically use anything she wants as far as foundations go.  But when she was using this CG Aqua Smoothers Foundation, I thought her skin looked radiant.  I decided to give it a whirl and I'm impressed.  The shade I use is Buff Beige, but I almost seem to be in between that and the next darker shade.  Although after my tan fades, it might match perfectly.  It does make my skin feel clean.  The foundation is lightweight, but it covers.  And I like my foundation to cover as I definitely have an uneven skin tone and dark spots. :)  The mascara is also CG and it satisfies my need for dark, plump lashes.  This particular one was supposed to leave almost a glittery sheen on my lashes, but it doesn't.  But I've never gotten clumps using this mascara and with an eye lash curler, you can get awesome length and curl.  Both I believe cost around $8 each.

4.  Elf Highlighter and Bronzer Palette: If you've never heard of Elf products, run to your local Target store now and look it up!  These products cost no more than $3 and they have brushes, eye shadows, lip sticks, blushes, etc.  I am in love with this palette.  I usually swipe my huge powder brush over the whole thing and swipe over the "raised" surfaces of my face: forehead, cheek bones, nose and chin.  It gives this beautiful luminescent shimmer like you just got a really nice tan.  I really think it would be perfect on any skin shade.  And for $3, it's a mega steal.

So those are the beauty products I use on a daily basis.  Hopefully my reviews can help you choose some new products to try for yourself!

Boy Meets Girl

I don't know what is up with the weather this month.  October is my absolute favorite month because of Halloween and the fact that it is supposed to be cooling off....but no.  In Fresno, it's staying hot.  I get jealous searching photos on Lookbook and Chictopia and seeing girls wearing fabulous fall outfits.  I miss my boots and sweaters!

But since it's not unbearably hot, I can get away with a boyfriend button down blouse and some shorts.  I just scored this satin-esque black button down at the Salvation Army a couple of days ago.  The SA in my city is awesome for scoring vintage pieces.  The Goodwill's are entirely picked over, but the SA is like a little treasure trove of goodies.  I've gotten quite a few awesome finds since I moved here.  This top is perfectly slouchy and in a color that will match everything.  I'm very happy.

My lace shorts are from Forever 21 (probably my favorite store for new clothes).  I saw Amy wear these from Flying a Kite months ago and scored some for myself. :)  They are surprisingly comfortable and a lovely peachy pink color that I can't wait to style for fall with some slouchy sweaters and knee highs.
